Diesel Secret Energy Review

OK, it's not biodiesel but you're bound to have heard about this diesel substitute.

But what exactly is the diesel secret energy?

Well according to the website blurb it only takes 15 minutes to prepare a batch and doesn't require the use of any dangerous chemicals unlike our good friend biodiesel.

They even argue that the "diesel secret energy" is a true bio-diesel as its made from 87% organic oil. Hmmmm.

It works in newer and older diesel engines, there are no need for conversions and the cost is only 46 cence per gallon. Sounds too good to be true?

Mixing vegetable oil (or rather room temperature, clear liquid oils such as soy, canola and peanut) with their alternative diesel fuel additive (a special mixture of ingredients known only to them) will leave you driving away cleaner and better off financially.

Although not designed as a home heating oil it seems to have had much success there as well, with testimonials stating that they use it fine to heat their home.

Oh and their secret way to get the oil for free is just to ask local restaurants for their left overs.

Notice anything missing from the blurb on the site?

No mention of emissions and it seems to us here (after much research on other biodiesel forums) that it could in fact be more harmful to the environment than good ol' biodiesel. Of course, that is avoided in the marketing copy.

Apparently it contains mainly xylenes which are very toxic (although obviously methanol used in the production of biodiesel is also dangerous). There's also a distinct lack of testing data on the site - no statistics from tests should ring the alarm bells a little...

So there's no conversion needed, it's cheaper than biodiesel and you seem to save time and maintenance BUT the cost to the environment may be a concern.

Here at Biodiesel Fuel Online we haven't actually tried this stuff...but if any of you guys have, please leave a comment over at the blog.

We remain sceptical (and those video testimonials seem awful suspect) but feel free to prove us wrong :)
